New Jaguar under construction.

The development of the Jaguar type was started in 2009. This new type of vessel was developed in cooperation with Amasus Shipping, Vuyk Engineering Groningen and a number of special cargo stakeholders. The contract for the construction of mv Jaguar, the first vessel from a series of three, was finally awarded to Shipkits B.V. at Groningen in the Netherlands in 2010.

The characteristic superstructure forward principle, together with the possibility of sailing in open top condition and the Dynamic Positioning System reinforces the commercial deployment of the vessel for the existing markets in which Amasus, which will take care of chartering the vessel, already operates.

Due to the complex set of requirements which the vessel will have to meet, a number of innovations must be implemented on the Jaguar type, such as the Power Management System based on the direct current principle and diesel-electric propulsion based on a flexible and redundant drive with low sulphur emissions that complies with the new legislation that comes into force on January 1^st, 2015.

The delivery of mv Jaguar is set in the spring of 2012.
